ABP have combined wide ranging engineering, architectural and construction skills and experience to develop and market a range of EPS building systems and ancillaries.These include:• TASS (Thermal acoustic slab system) TASS is a lightweight, quick to erect, thermal and sound insulating suspended slab system. Its design principles are based on concrete coffer slab design. TASS is made available to market through a network of appointed licensees. Since TASS was introduced in 2005 close on 200,000m² of TASS floor and roof slabs have been installed throughout South Africa.• Polyblock is a walling system based on the internationally known systems referred to as either LCFs (lightweight concrete forms) or ICFs (insulated concrete forms). The system is made of hollow EPS blocks that lock together and are filled with reinforced concrete which provides the wall structure. The EPS stays in place acting as a thermal insulator for the building.Polyblock is Agrément certificated.• Variblock is similar to Polyblock but is supplied in a ‘knock down’ form and is used for the construction of concrete retaining walls. • TUFS is a system comprising 40mm thick tongue and grooved EPS sheets which are glued together for under floor and in brick wall cavity thermal insulation.• Coblit is a wide range of in factory plastered, decorative exterior wall mouldings . Mouldings of almost any shape and size can be provided.• Polymould cornices is a range of interior cornice products.• Polytile is a moulded product for under concrete tile roof insulation • Polycube is a 150mm square EPS cube mould for concrete testing.• Polyjoint is a range of 10mm thick EPS concrete expansion joint products.• Corruform is EPS sheet cut to conform to the profile of corrugated iron roof sheeting and is used for the insulation of the under side of corrugated iron roofs. • EPS sheeting cut to size for general thermal insulating applications As well as the above ABP offer a range of ancillary products to complement their EPS systems:• Polyplast which is a plaster system which offers excellent adhesion to EPS.• Polyglue is a contact adhesive for EPS.• Coblit EPS adhesive which is a two pack adhesive system for exterior mouldings and cornices.

As South Africa is exposed to increasing energy costs, concerns over power supply and the likelihood that regulations related to energy efficiency in building are to become part of the new building codes, EPS is going to play an ever increasing role in construction.Expanded polystyrene (EPS) building systems are commonplace in the rest of the world having gained increasing acceptance over the past 40 years as an efficient and cost effective material to thermal insulate buildings.Currently South Africa rates very poorly when buildings are graded on their energy efficiency primarily because the climate here has always been considered temperate and sources of energy have been inexpensive.Labour has also always been regarded as cheap.The requirement criteria for building materials have therefore seldom been based on either labour or energy efficiency.

Africa Thermal Insulations (ATI) is a private entity owned by a consortium consisting of the Buildcraft Group, RMB Corvest a subsidiary of RMB and the First Rand Group of companies and certain members of the Management Team.  The Alububble® and Alutherm® products are manufactured by ATI.

Alububble® originated in Europe and was first introduced into South Africa in 1986 and has been locally produced since inception.  The business was bought in February 2003 from Kohler Flexpak by Khanyisa Africa Development Company (Pty) Ltd.  The company name was changed to ATI in May 2010.

The ATI production facility conforms to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System.

All products we manufacture haven tested at the Firelab on the CSIR Campus in accordance with the following methods:  SANS 10177 part 5 (combustibility), Part 9 and Part 10 (Horizontal and Vertical channel tunnel test methods) and Part 11 (Large Scale)

Sisalation was the first to be awarded the SABS certification mark for a reflective foil insulation product, and carries the most conclusive of fire ratings for its FR products. In addition a range of other general packaging products including coated and laminated barrier papers, reinforced laminates and textile coatings with capabilities of up to 3 metres wide, are manufactured in accordance with the ISO 9001:2000 quality management system.

Situated in Winterton, KwaZulu Natal, SFS is a multi-million Rand, state-of-the-art operation that produces natural fiber products from kenaf. The decortication plant is one of the biggest and most advanced kenaf processing facilities of its kind (dry retting) in the world.

Green, sustainable and cost-effective quality raw materials and products, which also help to preserve and protect global ecological health, are increasingly favored by large corporates. SFS has taken up the challenge of meeting this demand, in its quest to make a significant contribution to developing the global natural fibre industry.

Kenaf
Kenaf is a sub-tropical plant. Being a member of the hibiscus family, kenaf is also related to cotton and okra. A high yielding summer crop, it constitutes an annually renewable resource.

Bast fibre can be utilized commercially in many ways, including its use in building insulation and automotive composites and trim components.

Core (or pith) material is an excellent bioremediation agent, having excellent absorbent qualities. It is used commercially to inter alia absorb, drain or neutralize various liquids and solids, including hazardous chemicals and oil.
